Meta Horizon Creator Competition FAQ
What is the Meta Horizon Creator Program?
The Meta Horizon Creator Program (MHCP) is a community of creators who build games, experiences, and immersive content in Worlds for mobile, mixed reality, and desktop. MHCP members have access to exclusive benefits, resources, and opportunities to support and enhance their creator journeys.
Once I’ve applied, how long will it take before I’m able to join MHCP?
The MHCP team has created an expedited process to review your application faster so you can participate in the competition. If you are accepted, sign the MHCP program terms immediately to expedite your entry into the program.
My application wasn’t successful. Why didn’t I get in?
Creators in MHCP must have an active Meta account, be physically located in a supported country, be over the age of 18, and have a record of following policies on Meta platforms. We know that this can be a disappointing result. Successful applicants often come from developers and creators who have shipped great content on Worlds or other platforms, and/or those who have contributed to the ecosystem of developers creating immersive content.
Do I have to join MHCP to participate in the competition?
To be eligible to submit an entry and win one of the prizes, you must be a member of MHCP before the competition submission deadline.
How can I sign up as a team so I can work with my collaborators?
To participate in the competition as a team, each member is encouraged to apply for membership in MHCP, which provides access to advanced tools, community and resources to enhance your collaborative efforts. While non-MHCP members can still contribute to the entry, please note the team's entry must be submitted by a world owner who is an MHCP member.
Can I submit a world that’s already been released / published?
Yes! You can create a remixable world from scratch or remix an existing world that you have already published.
Is there design guidance for building a remixable world?
Yes, we’ve compiled some best practices for guidance and inspiration. See the remixable world documentation.
Should I submit my entry for compatibility testing?
We no longer conduct compatibility testing. Instead, we recommend that entrants test their worlds on mobile devices to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.
Can I continue to work on my world after it’s submitted?
Yes, you can continue to make updates to your worlds even after the competition deadline has passed. Please note that any modifications made after the submission deadline will not affect your entry's eligibility, and your world will not be disqualified. However, keep in mind that the judging process will be based on the state of your world at the time of submission, as described in the video you’ll provide accompanying your submission.
How will prizes be awarded to teams?
Meta has partnered with an external vendor, Enteractive Solutions Group (ESG), to manage prize fulfillment for winners. The vendor will contact all winners within two weeks of the announcement to initiate the verification and fulfillment process.
Should we build for mobile only and disregard the VR experience?
Creators can submit their worlds as either a mobile-only world or a world that works across mobile and VR devices.
Can I work on my own personal submission and collaborate on another?
Yes, you can. You may enter as an individual and/ or as a member of a Team, but each individual may be a member of only one Team (i.e., you may submit one or more individual entries and one or more entries as a member of a Team, but you may not be a member of more than one Team
Can an entrant submit more than one entry?
An Entrant may submit more than one Entry, however, each Entry must be unique and substantially different from each of the Entrant’s other Entries, as determined by the Sponsor and Devpost in their sole discretion.
Can my entry win multiple prizes?
An entry is limited to one top prize and a max of one additional special category or bonus award.
